Touch rugby is pay‑to‑play. We help cover the bill.

Touch Rugby for You (TRY) funds need-based scholarships for tournament entry, travel, and lodging, so cost isn't what decides who gets to compete.

Why TRY exists

In the US, touch rugby runs on players' own money. Every tournament means an entry fee, and the big ones mean flights and hotel rooms on top. For a lot of good players, that adds up to staying home.

TRY raises money from people who care about the sport and turns it into scholarships, awarded on financial need through an open application. Many of our supporters' employers match their gifts, so each donation can go twice as far.

How scholarships work

  1. Apply

Fill out a short application for an upcoming tournament on our eligible list.

  2. Review

An independent committee scores applications, with financial need first. Anyone with a personal connection to an applicant sits out.

  3. Award

We cover all or part of your entry fee, travel, or lodging, paid directly to the tournament or travel provider.

  4. Play

You compete. Afterward, we may ask you to share a few words about the experience.

Applications aren't open yet. The first scholarship cycle is coming soon. Email us and we'll let you know when it opens.

Support TRY

We're getting set up to accept donations. When giving opens, every gift goes into the scholarship fund, and you'll be able to direct it to a specific fund, such as players in your region.

Check your employer's matching program. Many companies match employee donations to nonprofits, often dollar for dollar. When you give, a quick match request can double what reaches players.

Who we are

TRY is run by a volunteer board that includes touch rugby players and members from outside the touch community, so scholarship decisions get an independent perspective.
